Do you know the old rule about stocks "sell when company builds a new headquarter"?
When Nokia started to build up NHO building it was just one office among the others. HQ was supposed to stay in South-Esplanadi downtown. Later on, when building was almost ready, it was decided that it's HQ. Investors didn't get a clear sell signal:-)
The location is a bit daft, I think the base at ruoholahti is the perfect location. Hungry? Go to K-Market or S-Market. Want to party? There is an Alko downstairs. Need to research the latest competitors? Go to verkkokauppa upstairs. Need to get to another area of Finland fast? Kamppi is one stop away on the metro, Railway Station is two. Shit ... I should find a flat in ruoholahti!
@r200@atmasphere probably (but I don't insist) theory is that hiring external blogger is worse form of brib... ergh... sponsoring than infamous free notebooks for bloggers from MS ;) so may be better strategy for @constantine would be to go off blogging as profession to something closer to marketing IF he wants to join the Navy
Tube is going to run to Keilaniemi in few years... Construction starts 2010. I'm not a Ruoholahti fan. It's massive, too new, too much traffic. Canal there is nice and I'm glad that Kaapelitehdas building was renoved.
If you are city boy Ruoholahti is too far (e.g. Töölö or Kallio is better), if you like more space, silence and nature, it's not giving that either (then Lauttasaari is the answer).
@phoneboy I didn't claim Stefan has any credibility problem, I was to say that personally I have rather black-or-white views on independence vs payslip, i.e. IMO when person got first payslip, he ain't blogger anymore, rather yet-another-rank-and-file COMM professional :) Again, this is how I see things, not a truth in last instance :)
Sometimes you think Helsinki public transportation is great, especially after visiting the US. But then you visit any other European city and you realize that Helsinki is wayyy behind. If anyone should have an extensive underground metro, it should be -30C Helsinki!!
I have used public transport for about 10 years in Helsinki and even when commuting to Espoo...kind of sicked and tired. My turn to start polluting now (am planning to buy a car soon).
I used HKL between Laru and Pitäjänmäki for a year. It took 1h from door to door every day. I was also sick and tired and bough a car. I got 1 hour more time every single working day although traffic was quite bad in Munkka/turuntie crossing during the rush hour. Now when I have a car and workplace is in Keilaniemi it takes nice 8 minutes from home to NHO. It's quality of life.
45 mins from Torkkelinmäki to NH. On the way home the bus stops are miles away from the NH. Can't wait to be able to walk to my car in the NOK car park in front(!) of the HQ via the nice glass tunnel and without having to suffer from any rain or cold

Stefan has been transparent about what he's after from Day 1. Why would he lose credibility when Mother Nokioa hires him?

Off-topic. Helsingin Sanomat yesterday: The metro might run from the HEL centre to the airport already in 2020s. ALREADY?

I don't understand what is the point of the new tram line 9 either, doesn't exactly add anything new to the existing arrangement. I hate Helsinki public transport. http://www.hel.fi/wps/wcm/resources/file/ebc684020f306c7/Linj9_10,muutos.pdf

In theory I support strongly public transport. In practice ... it kind of different story.

Back to OT. @silpol you do have a point there. Guess that means I'm a paid COMMs guy, even if it's not in my job description. :)
2 years, 2 months ago by phoneboy
@phoneboy we are rather underpaid COMMs guys, since our payslips don't have lines with "FOR BLOGGING"

silpol, you blog?

LOL @silpol exactly.

@constantine no, I don't - I have kids and family and other people dependent on me, so I can't afford "samurai/kamikaze way" atm
